Introduction

Wool is an amazing fiber and is one of the finest face yarns available for carpet. It has excellent soil-hiding and release characteristics. Wool holds dye to the core of its fiber, and you may see rugs in museums with brilliant colors, which are well over a hundred years old. This bond with dye also explains the difficulty of removing any stains with dye additives. Wool is also sensitive to alkaline chemical with over 9.5 pH after prolonged exposure. Wool organizations recommend that a pH of 4.5 to 8.5 be used when cleaning wool fibers.

 

Procedure

1. Identify and pre-inspect rug properly before removing the rug from the property.
2. Dry soil removal is the first step. The time needed to do an adequate job will vary from rug to rug. It is recommended that you use a vacuum with a beater bar and thouroughly vacuum both the front and back of the rug.
3. Pre-treat fringes. Pre-spray with either Dominator or POWer O depending on the pH you choose to use. Add Citrus Solv to your prespray when some additional leaning power is needed.
4. Extract the rug with Flex Ice or other low pH extraction chemical
5. Mist Power Rinse over the rug to make sure the fibers are left in the neutral range. Extract the fringes with Power Rinse
6. Protect the rug with Stain Blocker 5:1. Groom the fibers to lay in the same direction after you have protected the rug.
7. Dry with an Air Mover overnight.

Highlights: Prevents wicking, browning and yellowing. Removes alkaline residue.

Type: Prespray

Highlights: Preconditions fine fabrics or upholstery

 

CITRUS SOLV

Type: Degreaser/ Spotter

Highlights: Cuts grease, oil or heavy soil in carpet or upholstery  

 

FLEX ICE

Type: Powdered Extraction Chemical

Highlights: With it’s low pH, it can be used on virtually any fiber that can be safely cleaned with water.

 

STAIN BLOCKER 5:1

Type: Protector  

Highlights: Dries quickly with excellent wicking action.

OVERVIEW

Procedure:
